Today as I go about the mundane and the not-so-mundane I'm considering the power of praying for my Lover (husband). I have asked God to strengthen my marriage and I am frequently reminded by the Holy Spirit within me to "pray for your husband". I often talk to other women about the privilege, responsibility, and power of prayer. I consider myself a prayer warrior, voluntarily signing up to be on the front line for my family, friends, church, community, and the world at large. Today, John walked into the room as I was working and asked "What are you doing ?" I felt a little embarrassed to explain that I had gotten distracted from the list I had made for myself this morning confessing  "Well, I have been distracted by the pull to pray for others" his reply was assuring and comforting "that's not a bad thing". His approval of my being distracted by the pull to pray for others encourages me to live in my practice of prayer. As a list maker and planner, I say, I'm open to flexibility but often internally I scold myself for not "being on task".

I enjoy journaling. I have a list, in my journal, that I write almost daily, "Praying For",  then I list specific people and situations for which I am praying. It helps me focus. You have heard people say "I pray constantly", trying to accomplish the bible's instruction in I Thessalonians 5:17 to pray without ceasng. I have, over the years, disciplined myself to be in prayer a good part of every day. I pray when I'm doing the mundane and the not-so-mundane, which brings me back to the title of this blog, Laundry. Today, when I put John's shirts in the washing machine, I prayed as I put them into the wash. Lord remove anything that would hinder John's walk with you Lord. Remove any doubt from him that would tell him he is not equipped. As I removed them from the washer and hung them carefully on hangers to dry on the shower curtain, I prayed, Lord, as John puts on these shirts to do the work you have called him to do, please clothe him with Your Rightgeousness, (I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness... Isaiah 61:10), let him know the love You have for him, Lord (Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. Psalm 56:9). Let him put on the Armor of God daily as he fights for truth (Ephesians 6:10-18), as he seeks to know You and to teach others of Your Truth (All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17)  Let him walk and be bold and very courageous ( Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9)

Today I hope to encourage you to pray over your Lover, read the scripture and pray it over the leader of your home. It is a great honor, priviledge, and responsibility to pray to a Father who loves and cares for us.
